Step 1

Get Started
Apply today! Our staff will work with you to chart your course to become a certified teacher!. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher  from a regionally accredited institution in any major, possess a 2.95 GPA or higher, provide proof of valid Adult/Child CPR & first aid certification, pass a criminal background check and submit a resume.

Step 2

Begin Coursework

In total, candidates are provided up to 445 hours of comprehensive curriculum in the following areas:  

  • Child development or child psychology

  • Family and community relationships

  • Diverse learners

  • Instructional strategies

  • Teaching methods

Additionally, in response to new MDE requirements, we also offer a course in Restorative Practices.

#T.E.A.C.H.!
During your first year, the residency year, you will gain significant experience as a certified classroom teacher. However, you
won't be alone!
Instructional Coaches work side by side with all Residents by providing targeted, individualized, on-going training, mentoring and in-classroom support.

Full Certification

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, including three years of teaching with successful evaluations, your Interim Certification will convert to a Michigan Standard Certificate !
